'Whimsy' is an original mixed media painting and part of the Seedlings Collection.

The title of each artwork in the collection answers the question, "If you could plant a seed and grow absolutely anything, what would it be?" Crowd-sourced answers range from kindness and empathy to unicorns and the stuff inside oreos.

Acrylic inks, pastels, charcoal and other materials on heavy paper make up the seedlings and their seeds. The minimalist landscapes and skyscapes are formed with acrylic paint. The deep canvas edge is painted to compliment the painting, which is equipped with a sturdy picture wire for easy hanging.

About the collection:

In January of 2022 I gathered all artwork created before 2019, a variety of studies and sketches, and a folder of test prints and misprints that had gathered in my studio. My collectors were invited to a special Studio Archive Sale with the warning that anything remaining after the sale would be cut up, painted over and repurposed into something new.

The 'Shear Madness' collection is the resulting series of entirely new work created entirely out of old work: reused canvas adorned with hand painted and cut up paper bits then finished with layers of leftover paint mixed for other projects. There is energy and depth here, and stories left to tell.

The primary materials used in these pieces and the artworks that they are created from include acrylic paints and inks, found paper ephemera (like maps and book pages), and hand painted papers. The canvas edges are painted to compliment the painting, which is equipped with a sturdy picture wire for easy hanging.
