ARTIST RECEPTION: Steph Joy Hogan at Abrams Planetarium

  • Abrams Planetarium 755 Science Road East Lansing, MI, 48825 United States (map)

I’m so thrilled to finally bring my artwork to Abrams Planetarium after our initial collaboration was cancelled due to COVID-19. My Scrapscapes are hanging in the planetarium lobby through the month of April, in conjunction with MSU Science Festival.

Please join us from 6-8pm for a casual reception, and you might even choose to take in a star show!

Here are all the details from Abrams Planetarium:

Join us for a free showing of Big Astronomy: People, Places, Discoveries and a meet and greet with artist Steph Joy Hogan who will have her pieces on display in our lobby throughout April.

Big Astronomy (7pm-8pm, requires pre-registration, no late admittance):
It takes many people with diverse backgrounds, talents, and skills to run a world-class observatory. Meet a few of these people as they share the wonder of the sky and the excitement of discovery. Explore the world-class observatories nestled in northern Chile’s mountains and learn why Chile is an ideal environment for studying the cosmos.

About Steph Joy Hogan(6pm-8pm, does NOT require pre-registration):
Steph Joy Hogan is an award-winning mixed-media painter from Lansing, Michigan. Though she studied art at both Michigan State University and the University of Iowa, she considers herself a primarily self-taught artist. She credits her family for developing her love of visual arts, her overactive imagination, and her outlandish sense of humor... all of which shine through in her whimsical artwork.

Steph was voted Top Artist in the 2021 Lansing City Pulse Top of the Town contest (Top 3 in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022) and her recognizably vibrant and whimsical artwork has been featured in several Michigan galleries and many exhibitions with Mid-Michigan Art Guild. Her artwork is currently featured on her second Art in the Sky billboard as well as a bus stop in Downtown Lansing, and her commissioned mixed-media paintings can be found permanently installed in Impression 5 Science Center, the Susan and Jack Davis Nature Pavilion and Gallery at Fenner Nature Center, and the beautiful new headquarters of The Davies Project.
